The Collection

EKANT is built around three design concepts. Each one is a different approach to surface and form: how stone is shaped, how light behaves, where the detail sits.

Mosaic pieces are carved from hundreds of individual hexagons in mother of pearl and abalone, polished so each one reflects light at a different angle. Kaleidoscope pieces use mirror-finished surfaces shaped like flowers, reflecting whatever stone sits at the center. Kintsugi pieces are broken forms joined with gold, the repair line left visible in black mother of pearl.

The kaleidoscope motif took two years from first attempt to finished form. Custom tools had to be made. The mosaic hexagons alone take 75–80 hours of hand carving per piece. This is the work that couldn't be rushed.
