Frequently Asked Questions
Materials & Craftsmanship
What is MHARI jewellery made of?
The base metal is recycled 925 sterling silver. We also work in Pandora brass for select designs. Both are finished in either certified 24K gold micron plating or premium white rhodium plating. Stones are semi-precious, sourced fresh for each order, and range from natural stones and pearls to cultured stones, moissanite, and zircons depending on the design.
What stones do you use?
Mostly natural semi-precious stones, sourced fresh per order. Across the collection you'll also find natural pearls, cultured stones, lab-grown stones, moissanite, and zircons. The choice depends on what the design needs. Because stones are sourced individually, natural variation in colour, texture, and inclusions is part of every piece. No two will look identical.
What plating do you use, and how long does it last?
We use certified 24K gold micron plating and premium white rhodium plating. Micron plating is thicker than standard plating, so it holds up well with regular wear. It's also skin-friendly. That said, plating isn't permanent. Exposure to water, chemicals, and perfume wears it down over time. When it needs refreshing, we offer re-plating at cost. Remove pieces before swimming or showering, and they'll last longer between services.
Is the jewellery skin-friendly?
Yes. The base is certified 925 sterling silver, and both plating finishes are tested for skin safety. No nickel, no irritants.
Is MHARI jewellery eco-friendly?
We use recycled metals, produce in small batches, and package in signature MHARI wooden boxes.
We're not a sustainability brand, but the choices are deliberate.
Ordering & Delivery
How does made-to-order work?
You choose a design from the collection. We craft it after you order. Every piece is made specifically for your order, which is why no two are identical. This isn't a bespoke service where you direct the design. You're choosing from existing designs, and we make yours from scratch. If we're at capacity for the month, we'll let you know the estimated timeline before you commit.
How long will my order take?
15 to 30 days, depending on the complexity of the piece. We'll keep you updated on your order status throughout.
Do you ship across India?
Yes. Free shipping across India, no minimum order.
Do you offer international shipping?
Yes, we ship worldwide. Shipping shows at checkout once you add your address, and shipping within India is free. Any import duties or taxes in your country are paid on delivery and vary by destination, so check your local rate before you order.
What sizes are available?
Sizes vary by product type. We have sizing tools for each: a ring sizer, a bracelet sizer, and a necklace length guide. If you need a size outside the standard range, message us on WhatsApp and we'll work it out.
Returns, Repairs & Care
Can I return or exchange my jewellery?
If the quality doesn't meet your expectations, we offer a full refund within 24 hours of delivery. Just let us know within that window. Since each piece is made to order, exchanges for size or design preference are handled case by case. Reach out via WhatsApp and we'll sort it. For context: in over eight months of orders, nobody has asked for a refund.
Do you offer repairs?
Lifetime repair for any manufacturing defect. Send us photos on WhatsApp, and we'll arrange repair or replacement. No time limit on this.
Do you offer re-plating?
Yes, at cost. Transparent pricing, no markup on the service. When your piece needs refreshing, reach out on WhatsApp with photos and we'll give you a timeline and cost.
How do I care for my jewellery?
Store pieces in the MHARI wooden box when you're not wearing them. Clean with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid contact with perfume, hairspray, and lotions, as chemicals wear down plating faster than regular use.
Remove jewellery before swimming, showering, or working out. Water and sweat accelerate plating wear.
For stones, avoid hard impact. Semi-precious stones are durable but not indestructible. If a stone loosens over time, that's a manufacturing concern and covered under our lifetime repair policy.
When plating starts to dull, re-plating is available at cost. Most pieces go a long time between services with basic care.
About MHARI
Who designs MHARI jewellery?
Every piece is designed by Alay Somani. One designer, one studio, based in Jaipur. Alay is self-taught and spent over a year mastering the techniques behind these pieces before launching the brand. The full story is on our About page.
Are the pieces limited edition?
Yes. Each design is produced in limited quantities. Nothing is mass-manufactured. When you order, your piece is crafted individually, not pulled from a warehouse.
